Q. How much will the Cambridge Youth Soccer Rep program cost? What is
included?
A. The CYS Rep program will be $375 for the 2010 Outdoor Season.
Compared to the other big clubs in our area (Waterloo - $455; Kitchener -
$400; Guelph - $435), this cost is very reasonable. The $375 includes all
costs to register the player, uniforms, and various fees such as field
costs, referee costs and insurance. $150 of the total will be paid as a
deposit in December, during a uniform fitting, with the remaining $225 being
paid in February. For a complete listing of the Rep player fee breakdown,
please see the documentation distributed at our Annual General Meeting.
Q. How often does the Rep team play/practice?
A. The schedules vary for each individual Rep team. Most teams will play one
day during the week and practice on one or two separate days. During the
winter months, most teams will hold one practice a week at a local school
gym or the ComDev Indoor Soccer Park. Costs incurred by these practices ARE
NOT included in the above stated $375. Practices will not be scheduled on
the same night as Indoor House League.
Q. When will we find out what night of the week our games are?
A. The various leagues that CYS Rep teams play in usually release schedules
in the spring (around April). Game nights will not be determined until then.
Q. What league will my team be placed in?
A. The league placement depends on the results of the team during the
previous year. Younger teams (Under 12 and younger) will always start in the
South-West Regional Soccer League. Based on a promotion/relegation system,
some of the older teams (Under 13 and older) may achieve playing rights in
the Western Ontario Youth Soccer League.
Q. How far will I have to drive to these games?
A. Those teams playing in the SWRSL may be required to travel as far as Owen
Sound and Orangeville. The majority of the teams are local (Kitchener,
Waterloo, Guelph, etc.). In the WOYSL, teams are required to play in a loop
that includes Windsor and London based teams, in addition to a few local
teams. Games more than 120km away (Windsor, etc.) are usually played on
weekends.
Q. What is the minimum playing time my child will receive on a Rep
team?
A. Contrary to the House League program (where a child MUST play 50% of the
game), Rep players must play only 25% of any game. At Under 9 and Under 10
(Mini Development program), children are still required to play 50% of the
game.
Q. What is the Development Program?
A. The Development Program is for our younger Rep teams (Under 9 - Under
13). The basis of the program is to have these teams practice (once a week
during the winter months) with a Staff Coach. There is an additional cost of
$125 for all these players. The Under 9 and Under 10 teams will continue
their Development sessions once a week during the summer months, while the
older teams (Under 11 - 13) will receive bi-weekly training. The Development
schedule is TBA, but will have many variations/rotations, so that if a child
cannot make a set training session (due to other commitments, etc) they will
be able to train with another group of their peers.
Q. Are there ANY other fees on top of the Base fee and the Development
fee?
A. The only other fees that a team may incur during the course of the season
are for rental of indoor space (for pre-season games or practices), for
tournaments (both local and out-of-town) or for team functions. However,
most teams solicit sponsorship to cover these additional fees, or strive to
recoup some costs through fundraising efforts.
Q. When will I find out if my child made the Rep team?
A. Coaches have until the end of October to make their team selections. All
players (successful or not) will be notified.
Q. What do I do if I have any issues with Cambridge Youth Soccer or
its Rep program?
A. If you have any further questions/complaints, please do not hesitate to
contact the office at
clubhouse@cambridgesoccer.ca or 519-653-8800. If it is Rep specific,
please email the Rep Director at
competitive@cambridgesoccer.ca.
