Congratulations To The U12 A Boys
Cambridge United under 12 boys’ soccer team was undefeated to win the championship at the Cambridge International Heritage Tournament on July 10, 2011.

Cambridge started with a strong first game defeating Acton Villa 2-0 with goals from Connor Meneses and Karl Olivo. The second game finished with a 2-2 tie against Dundas. Matt Simpson and Colton Cameron were both successful in finding the back of the net. With one win and one tie, Cambridge had to win their last game against Flamborough to make it to the semis. The players worked hard to maintain a 0-0 tie at the half but then they came back strong with goals by Liam MacLean and Bryan McGillivray to win the game 2-0.

In the semi-finals, North Bay Vipers scored first in the game but Cambridge quickly fought back to tie it with a header by Keith Porter. Ryan Bahia scored the winning goal giving Cambridge a 2-1 win and a trip to the finals. In the finals against West Hamilton Warriors, it was a battle to the end with both keepers keeping the game tied 0-0.

The championship was decided by penalty kicks and Cambridge won 3-0. Andrew Ager shut down West Hamilton on 3 straight penalty kicks while Cambridge strikers were perfect to bring home the trophy.

This was a great team accomplishment with eight different players scoring the goals for Cambridge and solid defence holding the opposition to 3 goals in the 5 games.

Congratulations To The U12 B Girls
Heritage Tournament Champions 2011

CYS U12 Girls B won all three of the round robin games went on Saturday July 9th 3-0 against Kitchener B , Welland and Northwest galaxy.

Sunday was a hard fought battle against Stoney Creek in the semi final winning 1-0.

The final was against Welland and at the end of regulation time it was a 1-1 tie. Over time proved to be successful for the team as they scored 1 min into first overtime period.

Congratulations To The U9 Girls
The Cambridge United U9 Girls took home another silver this week-end in the Cambridge Heritage Tournament In their first game Cambridge played against the Waterloo Wizards but lost 2-0 Game two Cambridge dominated over the Guelph Royals with a 8-0 win Game three Cambridge played the Woodstock Cosmos and won 1-0 With two wins and one loss Cambridge made it to the semi-finals where they beat the St Catherine's Jets with a solid 3-0 win The finals saw Cambridge play against Waterloo Wizards for a second time. Despite a hard fought game the team lost 1-0 Congratulations girls and coaches on another great tournament !

2011 Cambridge Heritage Tournament
The 2011 Cambridge Heritage Tournament will be taking place during the weekend of July 9 and 10, 2011. Congratulations To The U16 A Girls
The U16 Cambridge United girls team had a fantastic showing in the 45th Robbie International Tournament this weekend.

After a first game loss to Wexford Fury 1-0 the team bounced back to win the next 2 games by the score of 1-0 and 2-0 against U16 West Ottawa and U16 Bon from Winnipeg.

In the semi-final play-off round the team had to play a very talented and hard working team from our very own club, the U15A girls. It was a hard fought battle that finished with a 1-0 win for the U16 program and an opportunity to play in the finals against the U16 NSD Saints from Calgary.

In the finals, Cambridge played hard and stuck together winning the championship game 2-0! Aubrey Formica was announced Player of the Game at the award ceremony and the U16 Cambridge United team ended up winning the tournament going 4-0-1 (W-T-L).

Once again, the players, staff and parents represented the CYS and the City of Cambridge with a great deal of pride and class all weekend long.

Congratulations To The U10 A Boys
The Cambridge United under-10 boys A team took home silver at the Ancaster Heritage Tournament 2011. They were in a competitive pool, tying their first game against the Brampton Red Devils 1-1. They won their second game against Concord SC 2-1 and their third game 5-1 against Hamilton Croatia Blue, allowing them to move on to the semi-finals the next day. They won their semi-final game against Saltfleet Panthers 3-1. The boys narrowly lost to Hamilton Sparta United in the Final game, 2-1.

The boys enjoyed the soccer and all the fun activities at the tournament. We are very proud of them. Thanks to our sponsor Champion Chiropractic & Sports Performance Clinic for their support.

U11 A Boys Strike Gold At Anacaster
Cambridge United U11 A Boys went undefeated at last weekends prestigious ancaster heritage days tournament.

After 3 wins in group play, United played Oakville in the semi finals keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win.

The finals pitted the boys against leaside where after building a two goal lead in the first half, they were able to hold off their opponent in the second half.

Final Score: Cambridge 2 Leaside 1

Great job boys. The 3 goals for the tournament were achieved. Thank you coaches, parents and especially our manager for an enjoyable and successful weekend.


Congratulations To Cambridge Girls U15 b
The Cambridge United under-15 girls’ soccer team won the Ancaster Heritage Tournament on the weekend of June 10th to 12th. Cambridge went through into the final after posting a 2-1 round-robin record. Losing their first game to Hamilton Croatia 1-0, Cambridge then went on to beat Brampton Cobra’s United 2-0 and Welland 2-0 to move through into Sunday. In the championship game, United played the London Fusion in a spirited match that went 0-0 through regulation and overtime. The championship was decided by penalty kicks which Cambridge won 3-2.

Congratulations To Cambridge Girls U9
Cambridge United U9 Girls Win Silver!
In their first tournament as a team the Cambridge United U9 Girls took home silver at the Ancaster Heritage Tournament. The first game ended in a 2-2 tie against the Saltfleet Wildcats. In game two Cambridge finished with a 2-1 win over the Jets Red. Game three against Waterloo the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

With one win and two ties this gave Cambridge 5 points to win their way to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals they played Pickering Power Gold. It was a battle to the end but Cambridge pulled off a goal with just a few minutes left of the game and held on to the win sending them to the finals. The finals saw Cambridge play against North York losing 2-1.

Congratulations To Cambridge Boys U13 B
Cambridge United U13B Boys team take second place in Muskoka Tournament!
The Cambridge United U13B Boys soccer team battled back from a slow start in the Muskoka Early Summer Soccer Tournament, held in Bracebridge on June 11 & 12, to place second in the tournament.

On the first day of the tournament the boys opened with a 1-0 loss against Aurora and then relinquished a 1-0 lead in the second game against North Bay to end in a 1-1 tie. Still maintaining their fighting spirit, the boys rallied in their 3rd game and came out with a 2-0 win against Kawartha. With the lowest goals against in the tournament the boys were able to proceed to the final on goal differential. In the final game the team lost by a score of 1-0 to Aurora.

Throughout the tournament the boys demonstrated showed both character and determination. They were also recognized by other teams and officials for their sportsmanship (which is a true representation of our city and club). Congratulations to the Cambridge United U13B players for a fantastic result in their first tournament!

Congratulations To Cambridge Boys U10 B
Cambridge United u10 Boys B team travelled to Strathroy June 4th – 5th for the Middlesex United Invitational Soccer Tournament and brought home the Silver Medal!

The boys started out the group stages with 2 wins vs. Bluewater and Sarnia, moving on to defeat Bluewater again in the quarter finals, and then earning another win in the semis vs. Nor'West Dragons.

The finals gave the boys the biggest competition of the tourney with an exciting 6-3 loss to Windsor Ciociaro.

In total the boys scored 38 goals and had only 9 against.

Congratulations To Cambridge Girls U16 A
Successful Weekend for Cambridge United U16A Girls in Barrie
The Cambridge United U16A girls had a very successful weekend at the Barrie Spiritfest Tournament this weekend as they went undefeated to win the Championship.

With a combined U17/U16 division in round robin play the team finished with a record of 2 wins and a tie with wins against U16 Brams United Inferno 1-0, U16 Barrie Spirit B 2-1 & a 1-1 tie against the U17 Newmarket United. In the semi-finals the team played U17 Barrie Spirit A team, which ended in a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation. The team advanced on PK's scoring 3 of the 4 chances for an opportunity to play against the host U16A Barrie Spirit team. In the finals, the girls capped off a very impressive weekend with a 3-0 win to earn the title of Barrie SpiritFest Champions!

Players and parents represented CYS and the City of Cambridge with a great deal of pride and class. Congratulations to the Coaching Staff, players and parents.


Cambridge United U10 Girls B
The Cambridge United U10 Girls B team participated in the Cambridge Rotary Fun Run last weekend in the 2.5 km event. The run is in support of KidsAbility Centre for Child Development.

KidsAbility provides rehabilitation services for children from birth to 18 years of age and serves children with a wide range of special needs. The U10 Girls B team had a great time participating in this fun event and were thrilled to win a team award in the Open category. Five of the girls finished in the Top Ten. Individual awards went to Kirsty Booth (1st place in 14+ category) and Stephanie Crouch (3rd place in 14+ category).

Congratulations To Cambridge Girls U12 A
The Cambridge United A under-12 girls’ soccer team travelled to Beamsville May 14th – 15th to play in the 12th annual West Niagara Invitational Soccer Tournament and came home with a silver medal.

In their first game, which was the season opener for the team, Cambridge played Saltfleet A and lost 2-0. Cambridge played the Burlington Avalanche in their next game and both teams trudged through the mud for a 1-1 tie. The rain continued as United moved onto the quarterfinals against the Niagara Hurricanes. The teams played to a 0-0 tie after regulation tie, but Cambridge prevailed in penalty kicks for a 1-0 win. United had a rematch with Saltfleet in the semi-finals and turned the tables on their opponents, winning 1-0 in another game that went to penalty kicks. In the finals, Cambridge faced the undefeated Etobicoke Energy, but were upended 5-1.

Cambridge Girls Under 11 B in West‏ Niagra
The girls played great this weekend finishing the tournament with a second place finish, but never losing a game. The final was called off because of the weather. In group play the team tied Hamilton Croatia 1-1, then we beat Niagara 2-0, then finished with a 2-0 win over Toronto Nitros to win the group. In the quarter final a win vs. Saltfleet 2-0 moved the team on to the semi's defeating Simcoe on penalties. The final would have been against Newmarket.

Cambridge Girls Under 15 A in West‏ Niagra
The Cambridge U15 Girls A team had a very successful tournament this weekend in West Niagara. The team went undefeated and gave up no goals in the 3 game tournament. Game 1 was against Vaughan Azzuri, Game 2 was against Mt Hamilton and Game 3 was against Saltfleet. Unfortunately due to the weather and field conditions the final game was cancelled. The team were scheduled to play Vaughan Azzuri and because the team had beaten them in round robin play, CYS GU15 a were declared Champions.

Cambridge Girls Under 10 B in West‏ Niagra
Cambridge United's u10 Girls B team brought home Silver from Niagara this weekend. Despite the cold, rainy weather, the girls played well and went into the championship game undefeated. They started out strong in their first game defeating Burlington 4-2. Coming off a big win, they confidently beat UMSC Strikers 4-2. These two wins put them through to the Quarter Finals where they faced Flamborough Flames. It was a tough back to back game however the girls battled hard and won 1-0. The finals saw a competitive game against Paris Thunder that ended in a 1-0 loss to the Cambridge team. It was a great tournament for the girls and a great start to their season. Scoring for United were Kaylee Bruce (5), Claire Booth (4), Amy Stevens (2) and Emma Kuchma (1).

Cambridge Boys Under 14A‏
Cambridge United's u14 Boys team brought the Championship Trophy home from Niagara this weekend.

The boys started the tournament with 3 games on Saturday vs Welland Wizards, Mount Hamilton B and Oakville C.

With a second place finish in their grouping, Cambridge moved on to the semi finals on Sunday vs Owen Sound taking a 3-0 win.

The finals saw a competitive game vs Leaside United that ended in a 1-0 win for the Cambridge team. Congratulations to the entire team!

Cambridge Boys Under 16‏
Cambridge Boys Under 16 a had a successful weekend as they entered the Cedar Point Bowling Green Spring Soccer Challenge (one of five tournaments that make up the Ohio Soccer Tournament Series) hosted by the Valentis Athletica Soccer Club

The team won all of their games - 3 round-robin games and the championship final. The quality of the football played by the team was high and stood out at this tournament. This was recognized by referees, opponents and supporters (parents) of the opponents. Several members of the team played through injuries, and everyone showed real character. The team represented CYS and the city very well.

Cambridge Girls U10 B Player makes Soloist in Kodaly Choir‏
Charlotte Crouch (Girls Under 11 b Team) who is a member of the Kodaly choir which consists of approx 500 students in Grades 4-6 from 34 schools in the WRDSB. The children need to audition to be a part of this choir and practice every week at their home school and travel to a different school to attend practice as a group at least 3 times before the live performance. The children are required to learn approx 17 songs in 4 languages. In addition, there is an opportunity for the students to audition for a solo performance from a choice of 4 songs. The children are required to audition before their home school music teacher and if successful, move on to audition for the Mass Choir Conductor who makes the final decision.

Charlotte was chosen as 1 of two soloists to sing the Olympic Theme Song "I Believe" and will perform with her choir on May 4th at Kitchener Center in The Square.

U16 Cambridge United Girls Program‏
CYS Girls U16 Cambridge “A” team participated in a NCAA tour April 1st – 2nd – 3rd . The parents and players represented our club with pride and class on and off the pitch all weekend long. Following a long bus the team played Tiffin University on Friday, Mercyhurst College on Saturday and then on Sunday travelled to RIT to play against the National ranked U16 Empire State Academy Team.

The girls played extremely well considering being the first time they've played on a full field since last season.

March Break Camp 2011
U11 Girls A
On March 14, 2011 the Cambridge United U11A girls’ team travelled to Brampton to play in the CTSC March Break Tournament at WWK Sports Complex. The United played their first game at 7:40 am against Guelph. Cambridge came out on top with a 1-0 win over Guelph.

In the second game Cambridge went up against Mississauga. Cambridge had to come from behind after Mississauga found the back of the net first. The game ended in a 1-1 tie. After Mississauga, The United Girls played Aurora. This game ended with Cambridge winning the game 2-0.

Before the girls were able to play the semi final game they had to play Kitchener. Both teams battled back and forth, but neither team was able to put a ball past the keepers.

Cambridge Headed to semi final action, and faced Guelph. Both teams were physically exhausted after playing 4 games previous. After playing the entire game the score was 0-0, we were headed for a shoot out. After 4 rounds of shooters, Cambridge was declared the winners in a final score of 1-0.

In the Final game Cambridge faced Mississauga again. The teams left everything they had on the field. However it was Cambridge that was victorious over Mississauga 2-0, winning their first tournament of the 2011 season.

Holiday Soccer Camp
65 CYS players attended the camp enjoyed technical and technical/tactical sessions conducted by the staff as well as playing small sided games plus daily “fun” World Cup Tournament Games.

CYS Charity Game
Cambridge Youth Soccer's coaches and staff participated in a charity gameon Monday, December 20th to benefit the Cambridge Self-Help Foodbank. Over 200 pounds of food and along with a cash donation was raised during the event.

Cambridge U9 Boys Blue win SWRSL Championship
The Cambridge United under-9 boys’ white soccer team reached a milestone on Saturday, becoming the first under-9 city team to win the league championship. United battled all season to end up at Packham Fields in Stratford, where they kicked into action against Waterloo Gold. There were a lot of scoring chances for both teams, with missed goals, crossbars, balls headed just outside of the goal and excellent team work. In the end, United prevailed 1-0 on Ekum Sandhu’s goal to bring home the league cup. Christian Ferraro earned the shutout.

Cambridge United U8 'A' Boys All-Star Team Receives Silver In Aurora
The Cambridge United under-8 A boys all-star team took Silver in the John Traganitis Soccer Tournament in Aurora on the weekend. After winning all of the preliminary games, the boys ended up in the top of their division. They breezed through the semi-final game beating Orangeville 7-0. In the final game the boys fought to the end but ended up losing 1-0 to Brampton Blast. The boys success in the tournament is a credit to Cambridge Youth Soccer and their All-Star program. The program is designed to develop the players and introduce them to rep soccer. The teams practice and play together over the course of the summer as well as participate in Development sessions with top quality coaches. At the end of the summer, the teams participate in one or two tournaments. In the case of this team, the boys hard work and dedication to the program definitely paid off.

Cambridge U8 All-Star Teams 'A' and 'B' Meet In the Finals
The Cambridge United under-8 all-star teams participated in the North Mississauga Soccer Club Tournament on September 11th and 12th. Theu-8 Boys A team won the whole tournament while the u-8 Boys B team took second place. Both teams went into the final game of the tournament undefeated until they ended up playing against each other in the finals. It was a hard fought game with the under-8 A team defeating the B team 2-1.

Cambridge U14 Boys 'B' Win Alliston Tournament
Cambridge United U14 Boys B team went to the Alliston Tournament the weekend of August 21-22 and won the tournament while allowing no goals against for the entire tournament.

Game 1 vs. Huntsville (2-0) despite having numerous shots go wide.
Game 2 vs. Mississauga (5-0) capitalizing quickly and often to put Mississauga on their heels.
Game 3 vs. Peterborough (5-0) victory.
Finals vs. Pickering (1-0) victory over a determined Pickering squad (runners up in last year's tournament).

Congratulations to the boys for a total team effort and to our keeper Alex Knarr for a complete tournament clean sheet! Well done!

 
Cambridge U9 Boys Blue Receives Silver In Stratford Tournament
The U9 Boys Blue team take the silver home again! Very impressive play from a team of young developing soccer players.

0-2 vs Barrie, 6-0 vs FEDS, 8-0 vs Techumseh, 2-1 vs Stratford and 3-7 vs Windsor A in the finals. Much to be proud of, and lots to look forward to!

 
Cambridge U10 Boys 'A' Win Second Consecutive Tournament
United came home with the championship from the Stratford Festival Cup. After claiming first place in their division, the boys were up against it in the semi finals VS the host Stratford Strikers. Cambridge prevailed by a 2-1 score to move on.

The final VS London Fury on an extremely humid afternoon was an outstanding game. Spurred on by the parents chants of "GO CAMBRIDGE GO" and with the support of their U9 Boys Blue Club mates the lads outclassed London in effort and skill to win the game and the championship 3-2.
 
Cambridge U10 Boys 'A' Win Woolwich Mini Soccer Tournament
The boys won all 5 games in securing the Tournament Championship held on Aug7th and 8th at Woolwich. They overcame 2 penalty kicks in the final against Middlesex to win 3-2. Congratulations on a great weekend boys!

Cambridge U12 Boys 'A' Win Brantford Soccer Classic
Congratulations to the Cambridge U12 Boys A squad who returned victorious from the Brantford Soccer Classic which was played on August 7th and 8th. Facing a strong 11 team division the Boys worked hard in the first round and defeated Guelph while losing a close match to Tillsonburg. They received a bye into the Quarter Finals where they defeated Brampton 3-0. In the Semi Finals United came up against the Tecumseh Warriors and emerged victorious by the score of 2-0. They faced Waterloo in the Finals and managed a narrow 1-0 victory. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on a job well done!

Cambridge U9 Girls White Undefeated In St Thomas
Cambridge U9 Girls White completed a successful tournament in St Thomas where they went through their games undefeated. Congratulations to the players on coaches on a job well done.

Cambridge Youth Soccer Receives Silver Level Award from OSA
Cambridge Youth Soccer was one of 3 soccer clubs across the province which received the prestigious Silver Level club award on behalf of the Ontario Soccer Association.  In order to achieve this award clubs must meet certain requirements in terms of their business and technical models as well as maintaining a solid relationship with their respective municipalities. Cambridge Youth Soccer would like to thank its membership, sponsors and the City of Cambridge for allowing the club to be recognized with this achievement.
Cambridge U13 Boys A Take the Title in Ancaster
The Cambridge United U13 A Boys recently returned triumphantly from the Ancaster Tournament by winning the U13 Boys Competitive Division at the Ancaster Heritage Days Tournament. Cambridge narrowly defeated Kitchener 3-2 in a well contested final. Along the way United defeated Welland, Waterloo, Thorold and Kitchener C. Congratulations are in order to the boys as well as coaches Kevin Johnson, Paul Sweeney and the rest of the staff for a job well done.

Cambridge U12 A girls... A Carolling We Go!!
The team along with their coaches and Manager, ventured out in the cold and very slippery evening to St. Lukes Place in Hespleler. The reason for their visit?... to provide some Christmas cheer to some of the seniors living there. ALL the girls on the team joined in singing Christmas carols and shared refreshments with the seniors. What a kind way to give back to our community and some special residents that live in it.
