Starting with the 2007 tax year, the Government of Canada allows a
non-refundable tax credit based on eligible fitness expenses paid by
parents to register a child in a prescribed program of physical
activity.
The children's fitness tax credit lets parents claim up to $500 per
year for eligible fitness expenses paid for each child who is under
16 years of age at the beginning of the year in which the expenses
are paid.
One hundred percent of CYS registration fees for 2007 are eligible
for this program.
You will need to have a copy of your registration receipt for 2007
in order to file your claim. This is a pink copy for those who
registered in the office and an online print-out for those who
registered online.
If you have misplaced your receipt, the CYS office will issue a new
one for an administration fee of $10.
